Whether you and your dog(s) are looking to reconnect with nature, take a leisurely stroll or explore the back woods of Vermont, there are literally hundreds of dog friendly hiking trails, mountains, lakes, rail trails, and quiet retreats spread for every level throughout the Vermont region. Dogs are welcome in ALL of these spots that we reccommend.

It is our greatest pleasure to share this incredible region with you! Upon checking in we are happy to provide suggestions based upon your desires and driving directions to each.

Please note that we are often asked "Can my dog be off-leash on these trails." Well our answer is that there is a "leash law" in every state but we have "experienced" responsible dog owners who respect the land. We suggest that you use your own judgement when hiking with your dog off leash.

Some of these spots do offer boat rentals for Paw House guests.

Also, in case you have not heard about the worldwide treasure hunt known as "Geocaching," we encourage you to check it out! There are some fantastic caches in and around the surrounding towns and hiking locales.

Wherever possible we've tried to provide you with different websites that help convey the specialness of some of our favorites. But nothing beats the real McCoy! Wheelerville Trails	Part of the Catamount trail system - leisurely, scenic, and easily accessible. Hiking easy to Moderate.
Swinging Bridge at Clarendon Gorge	Part of the Long Trail - a bounding river cuts through great vistas, fields of wildflowers in the fall, great climbs. Downstream is an indeal swimming hole where you and your dog(s) can cool off after a long hike. Hiking itself is easy to Moderate and we suggest toting water shoes to "blaze" your own trails through the river bank. (Here's Bruno enjoying the view...)
The Ice Beds Trail	Hike to a living, breathing glacier! - A largely unknown treasure of our region. Moderate to Advanced.
Chittenden Reservoir and Lefferts Pond	18 miles of a glorious trail system that feature Pico peak, waterfalls, frozen lakes, and streams throughout the system . Hiking is easy to Moderate.
Pine Hill Trail at Georgietti Park	Perfect snowshoeing and moderate cross country skiing trails. Groomed and well marked.
Killington Peaks	Explore the vast ranges of the Killington peaks - spectular views, excellent trail systems and mountain biking rental available. Hiking ranges from easy to advanced. Click here for a map of the entire Killington region showing points of interests.
Lake Bomoseen and Half Moon State Park	The 2nd largest lake in all of Vermont * some areas are not dog friendly * but we can help you arrange boat rentals to enjoy the lake and many points of interest around the lake.
Kent Pond	A quiet stroll in a pretty setting with waterfalls and spring fed springs - gets beautifully dirty in rainy weather and worth it!! Especially if you have a retriever or a dog who LOVES to swim!! We'll provide you with towels to clean up - just be sure to bring them! Hiking is easy to moderate.
Deer Leap	Part of the Long Trail system this is a short but aggressive climb - the end of the hike features beautiful views of the Killington range. Also The Long Trail Inn is at the base - perfect for a little lunch before or after the hike.
Robert Frost Trail	All along this scenic trail system you will discover the works and inspiration of the poetic and incomprable Robert Frost
Buttermilk Falls	Just ask our great friend Lisa from PA about her favorite places in all the world and without batting an eye she will tell you that Buttermilk Falls tops the list. Glorious at every turn, easily accessible and rugged in places - a definite treasure!
Okemo Mountain Trail	Artfully woven throughout the ski trails you will find a most dramatic hike that features the glory of Vermont. Trails range from easy to advanced - are well marked and maps are accessible at the visitor center.
